New Beginnings: We Are Moving To…

August is officially here and to say my life has been hectic (in the best way possible) is an understatement.  Selling our home. Leaving with only a very few essential items and moving to…

It’s time to catch you up!

Hello Friends!

Whoa, it has it been hectic lately!

We have officially sold our house including everything in it, and left the state of New Jersey with nothing more than a few essential boxes. As I record this I’m sitting back in that bedroom-turned-dining space at my grandmother’s house in Puerto Rico. A little pitstop my husband and I decided on before our new chapter begins.

You know, it’s interesting how being here always brings up loads of emotions. I’m not blinded by the fact that being around my grandmother, my grandfather, my aunt, and my extended family serves as a constant reminder that I no longer have my parents here – but it also gives me so much peace that I still have THEM. They are amazing to me, even if it includes a side eye or two from my grandmother.

And I’m actually here to celebrate my grandfather’s 90th birthday—a milestone for sure and perhaps it might seem odd to some but it is the first birthday we will ever celebrate together. It’s hard to comprehend that it’s taken me 41 years on this earth to celebrate one birthday with my grandfather, but I love him so much and he reciprocates in the most loving ways so there’s just gratitude that I finally get to do it!

And then we are off to the place we will now call home. So, I guess this seems like the perfect opportunity to share the big news. I know a lot of you have been asking and DMing and for that I’m so grateful. So, my husband and I are officially moving out of the country into the Dominican Republic! Ahh! It’s crazy. This decision has been a journey, to say the least. After my mom’s passing, we revisited past conversations, and like anyone who has been through a traumatic event or life change, you start to question everything. Is the East Coast where we see ourselves? Do we like where live? Are we content with our current living situation?

And the answer, was no. We’ve always wanted to live in a warmer climate. California, South Carolina, and even Portugal were on the list. We realized we are much happier, more active, dare I even say more productive, when the sun is shining and the air is warm.

Then, there was also the increasing mindfulness of what we eat and how it affects our overall well-being. I’ve been on a health journey for quite a while (for my newsletter OGs you know the story) so I wanted a place that offers or extends my ability to have an abundance of fresh, less processed foods. I keep saying, I only have one body to take care of, and having the privilege to nourish it with wholesome foods that align perfectly with my desire to live a healthier, more intentional life is a hell yes for me…or it could also be age.

Over the past few years, we’ve also come to understand the importance of being near water, specifically the ocean. The ocean has always been my happy place—a source of peace and inspiration. I don’t know what it is. Its vastness and rhythm have a way of grounding me, helping me feel connected to something larger than myself. As I get older, as I see my grandparents both headed into their 90s and having lost both my parents before the age of 65, it’s a no-brainer.

And of course, there’s nothing that feels like the ultimate self-care than simply just honoring yourself. New York raised me and New Jersey made me, and that will forever be true. We have our best friends and our family there as well and that will never change, but after contemplating it for years, rearranging our lives, selling our home, figuring out how to run our companies from afar, budgeting and analyzing the cost of living and the quality of life, the Dominican Republic is it for us!

Mom and Dad, I hope I’m making you proud!

Cheers to new beginnings, let’s honor our past, step boldly into our futures, and find home wherever our hearts desire.

Thank you for following along. The news is officially out! I can’t wait to hear what you think and I will share all the details as they continue to unfold, so stay tuned!

Until next month, bye.
